Just create a free acount over at http://www.blogger.com, use fake details (although you need a legitimate email address) and then your blog will be anonymous.
As your on the blogger network then, others may find your site through there, the only other way is to advertise it either on Google or through links from other sites. References :
I prefer WordPress to blogger. I find the site editing easier, and the syndication to facebook is better. Either will do though. WordPress has displays "similar posts", has tag searches and all sorts of things for people to find you. In the end either blogger or wordpress will do what you want. Use social bookmarking sites such as digg.com. to promote your blog
Write for other sites that allow you to link back to your blog. There are links to two such sites on my profile. There are tons more out there and many of them will also pay you to post your content on their sites.

To gain followers, try commenting and socializing on other people’s blogs and eventually people will follow you.
